The Minds Apocalypse By Dilly

Artist & Designer, Tom Littleson, aka Dilly has a new show at the Brunswick Street Gallery that is well worth checking out for all you illustration afficionados.....

Scott Bain Taxidermy MicroMachina

"MICROMACHINA examines what makes the insect world tick, and considers our attempts to control nature and the consequences. Humanity’s blatant disregard for nature, where profit comes before life, will ultimately be our undoing. Pesticides, herbicides, genetic modification and massive urban expansion push the fine balance of life toward disaster. There has to be a point, when mother nature will say ‘too far’, and rid the earth of its biggest pest... us."

Mysterious Al Solo Show March 2011

'The Doomsday Papers'
By Mysterious Al
04.03.11 - 27.03.11
Mysterious Al's striking, satirical and often dark artwork has long commanded an underground, yet global cult following with avid collectors rabid for his latest creations. Known for his iconic gothic eyed creatures, monsters, mutants and sub-humans... Creatures that inhabit a morbid yet playful universe parallel to our own. One of the first generation of Street-artists; Mysterious Al gained international notoriety alongside D*face for his part in the infamous ‘Finders Keepers’ illegal art events. In a career spanning almost a decade, Mysterious Al has exhibited his work in galleries globally, as well as collaborating with some of the worlds most high profile brands.

StolenSpace is thrilled to present ‘The Doomsday Papers’ the eagerly-awaited debut solo show by Mysterious Al. This brand new body of work loosely surrounds Mesoamerican Gods, the doomsday calendar, Drum & Bass, demonic intervention, Graffiti culture, Wicca and the Occult. In mixed media including wood, paint, newspaper, magazines, torn Bible pages and installation.

“As we prepare to enter what is being described as a new cycle of civilisation, I’ve become increasingly interested in different cultures and their beliefs, as well as my own thoughts and fears on mortality and fate. History is constantly being written... From the wonderfully elaborate depictions of Mayan Gods to mass-market celebrities, cult fiction and present-day witchcraft. What happens if all these humanities mix together? If these worlds collide?”

Walton Ford

"Walton Ford was born in 1960 in Larchmont, New York. Ford graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with the intention of becoming a filmmaker, but later adapted his talents as a storyteller to his unique style of large-scale watercolor. Blending depictions of natural history with political commentary, Ford’s meticulous paintings satirize the history of colonialism and the continuing impact of slavery and other forms of political oppression on today’s social and environmental landscape."

Reflecting on images from his childhood in rural North Carolina, David draws animals, trees, clouds and images dear to him. For this exhibition Ellis engages the idea of the animal spirit to depict his ideas of transformation. Ellis also makes imagery derived from plumes of smoke and steam originally inspired by witnessing an active volcano. These linear works he calls "flow" also describes rivers, both above and below the surface. This language embodies his belief that no condition is permanent.

David Bray Show 2011

This show is one not to miss! One love to the Bray....

'Great Disasters of the 20th Century'
By David Bray
04.02.11 - 27.02.11
Bray creates delicate and time-consuming drawings which explore emotion, utopia and a world of fantasy through his subject matter of the beautiful and erotic, but the unnatainable female form.

In his upcoming new solo show Bray is inspired by the record ‘Great Disasters of the Twentieth Century’ by Georg Lubitzer, on which there is a track called 70 days. “This track inspired me to do a drawing a day for 70 days, whatever style or content of that particular drawing dictated the style or content of the larger drawings - which evolved over the same period of time. Each drawing has a variety of mark making styles within it. The record details the occult, Egyptology, loss, magic and the supernatural - and i have tried to reflect that in the work”

Mattia Fagnoni Association Charity Art Show

I was contacted via Facebook asking me to share with our readers a sad story about a child called Mattia Fagnoni, from Italy who has recently passed away....Mattia was born with “Sandhoff Syndrome”, a genetic, degenerative and lethal disease. His parents have created the “Mattia Fagnoni Association”, in order to raise funds for finding a cure for this disease and providing support for the ones who need it. Mattia was the only child in Italy to have suffered from Sandhoff Syndrome; so it was all the more difficult for his parents because they were alone and found it hard to get practical advice and to find some help from someone who knew about this disease and how to treat it. Sandhoff Syndrome is difficult to diagnose because only one case in a million suffer from this illness, and you can identify it only by a Pre-natal genetic diagnosis. They started to notice something when Mattia was in his 6th month, because he was unable to crawl and sit up, all basic steps in the stages of development.
Since then, worsening of vision made Mattia almost blind. By 27th months old, his condition worsened day by day: he was not able to move, and was left with only his touch and hearing senses functioning properly. Soon after, Mattia sadly passed away, but his parents have continued the fight against the illness. They are planning to hold another art show in Naples, Italy on the 26th April to the 8th May and are looking for submissions. All sales income will go directly to the “Mattia Fagnoni Association”....

If you would liek to take part and help the Fagnoni family out (like these artists above did), then please get in touch on Facebook....
To find out more information about Sandhoff Syndrome you should visit the site www.ntsad.org.
